Kezia (Kez-eye-ah) is a senior occupational therapist (OT) who has worked in a number of major Sydney hospitals, as well as general and NDIS community services. Kezia has extensive knowledge of acute, community and palliative care, offering assistance to clients of all ages at home or transitioning home from hospital and require assessment due to a change in their physical or cognitive needs, which can often feel very overwhelming for the client and their family to manage alone.
Having worked across greater Sydney, Kezia has an in-depth knowledge of many different area services, local providers, equipment suppliers and community programs which means she can tailor recommendations for clients close to home. She is always on the lookout for new service offerings for her clients.
Kezia has also worked with rural and remote clients via Telehealth, creating novel ways to assess and implement therapy programs despite the geographic distance, ensuring these clients also feel they are receiving the best possible care.
As the Managing Director of Staying Independent, Kezia felt it was essential to become an approved NDIS Provider, completing the strict auditing and compliance process required to give clients peace of mind when engaging the service.
NDIS services offered include – initial assessment, reports, equipment recommendations, home modifications, and licenced to administer and report standardised assessments endorsed by the NDIS as best practice and evidence when submitting to the scheme. Further details of NDIS offerings under the Service tab at the top of the page.
Kezia completed a Masters of Occupation Therapy at the University of Sydney with a distinction average and research dissertation. She has published research and presented at local and international conferences, as well as being part of working parties for policy development, covid management and service implementation. She has also completed a Graduate Certificate in Medical and Health Leadership from the University of Wollongong.
Kezia’s skills as an occupational therapist were recognised through the St Vincent’s Hospital Award for Excellence and Innovation, and she was a member and co-chair of the St Vincent’s Youth Advisory Board.
Prior to working as an OT Kezia had a successful career in advertising and marketing having completed an undergraduate degree in Visual Communications at Swinburne University. She retrained in OT to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable members of the community.
Never one to sit still, outside of work Kezia keeps busy looking after her two children, plays basketball and waterpolo and has a keen interest in the Pop Art movement.
Kezia is AHPRA registered, a member of Occupational Therapy Australia and Provider+ NDIS support, as well as having connections to other health professions and providers across Sydney in the public, private and NDIS sector.
