Therapy and skill building for independent living

As people navigate challenging life circumstances, they may struggle to complete tasks and activities which are part of a fulfilling and independent life. We can help to identify areas for development, set goals and teach clients new ways to independently complete tasks and utilising their current level of mobility and function. Sometimes this will involve assistive equipment, other times it will involve breaking down more complex tasks into manageable components and/or revising daily routines and schedules. We love to problem solve and find innovate ways to help clients achieve their goals.

Examples of ways that we can help include:

  • Teaching practical activities such as cooking and self-care (eg shaving, showering, brushing hair, cleaning teeth)
  • Routine planning
  • Re-learning day-to-day tasks such as safely using transport (bus, taxi, trains, Uber), shopping, car transfers
  • Breathlessness education
  • Pacing activities
