National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a government funded program that provides supports to people under the age of 65 with a permanent disability. The NDIS provides access to services, a variety of allied health therapy options, equipment (assistive technology), supported housing, and home modifications.

Staying Independent can support clients wishing to apply to be accepted into the NDIS, as well as participants already in the scheme. We understand the NDIS, we know it can be extremely confusing, but we can help make the process much easier and offer the following services:

  • Assistance with the NDIS application – including how to answer the application questions
  • Supporting documents and reports to provide a stronger application
  • Functional Capacity Assessments (FCA)
  • Equipment Reports (Low, Mid and High level)
  • Supported Independent Living (SIL) Reports
  • Home Modification Reports and job briefs
  • Qualified staff to complete many standardised assessments as specified to be “best practice” by the NDIS guidelines when writing an application or report based on disability. Standardised assessments are highly recommended to improve the quality of the report being submitted.

Staying Independent can create and implement therapy plans to build skills in areas such as:

  • Preparation for employment
  • Money management
  • Travel training
  • Domestic duties
  • Social skills
  • Community engagement
  • Planning and memory strategies
  • Cognitive re-trainng
  • Transfer training
  • House planning following change due to disability
  • Assistive technology training
  • Equipement trials
